If you’re crafty, we’d love to see your Fibre Zone creations.
Last year we had a fabulous display of items in our Fibre Zone competition and it would be lovely to see your latest creations.
As we all know the variety of uses that alpaca fibre can put to is limited only by your imagination so put your minds and your fingers to work and make something wonderful from the fibre that our lovely alpacas produce. The method of construction for any of the classes is also only limited by your imagination – weaving, knitting, crochet, felting or any other woolly craft you enjoy.
Preferably your entries will be 100% alpaca but we do understand that for some items a blend is more appropriate but it must be at least 50% alpaca. Please can you attach a label to your entry giving a breakdown of the blend or a confirmation that it is pure alpaca.
A list of the classes follows:
Classes
Class 1: Something to keep tops or toes cosy (e.g. hats, headbands, socks, legwarmers)
Class 2: Necks and shoulders need to be warm too (e.g. scarfs, snoods, shawls)
Class 3: Don’t forget the fingers (e.g. gloves, wrist warmers)
Class 4: An item of clothing (e.g. jumper, jacket, skirt)
Class 5: A household item (e.g. blanket, rug, cushion, coaster)
Class 6: “A celebration of Springtime”
Class 7: “The nicest things come in the smallest parcels” (a small handcrafted gift)
Class 8: Something for a baby or child (e.g. shawl, bootees, a toy)
Class 9: A ball/hank of yarn (hand-spun, or commercially milled)
Class 10: Open – If your item doesn’t fit in any other class but is made from alpaca fibre we’d love to see it.

Class 11: Open Handcraft Class (any handcrafted item made from alpaca yarn/fibre by an exhibitor aged 16 years or under)
Class 12: A character made using a toilet roll middle and raw fleece or alpaca yarn for hair (under 11 years only)
